PART 1 · LESSON 8 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
A Dress That Is Simple
On Saturday Bia goes looking for her wedding dress with her mother, who has come down from Minas, and Daniel isn't allowed anywhere near it. Describe something you're looking for, "a dress that is simple", "is there one that isn't so long?", talk about lace, sleeves, veils and flowers, rent instead of buy, and say why the groom can't see it, or even ask about it.

THE STORY
Saturday, December eleventh, in a bridal shop in the centre of Rio, with white dresses from the floor to the ceiling. Bia's mother, Dona Rosa, has come down from Minas especially. Daniel is at home, with strict instructions not to ask anything. That evening, back at the flat, he asks anyway. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
