THE STORY

The Mansours' flat in Heliopolis, the day before the ninetieth. Mona has Layla, three, on her knee; Madame Nadia, the retired teacher, corrects Leo, who says the polite you to her; Mona and Leo speak plainly.

مَا تْقُلْش شُكْراً, قُول يَا رَبّ.ma t'ulsh SHUK-ran 'ool ya rabb.Don't say thank you, say O Lord.
وِلَيْلَى تْقُول رَبِّنَا يِخَلِّيكِي.wi-LEE-la t'ool rab-BI-na yi-khal-LEE-ki.And Layla says: may God keep you.
