PART 3 · LESSON 21 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
Hugo Moves In
It's the first Saturday of January, and Hugo moves to Lyon. Emma helps him carry about twenty boxes up five floors, meets a neighbour on the stairs, builds a bed with a screw missing, and shares a pizza on the boxes. Talk about moving house, boxes and heavy things, say "about twenty", ask where to put things, say "it's my books", describe a lively neighbourhood, and say "without you, I'd still be on the stairs".

THE STORY
It's Saturday, January 2, and it's cold. Hugo has rented a little flat in the Croix-Rousse, the old silk-workers' quarter on the hill, on the fifth floor of a building with no lift. He was going to come by car, but in the end he drove up from Marseille in a hired van, full of boxes. Emma has come to help. Chloe was supposed to come too, but at eight o'clock a message arrived on Emma's new phone. "Sorry, I'm working!" This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
