PART 3 · LESSON 24 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
Skiing in the Alps
Hugo takes Emma away for a weekend in the Alps, and Emma skis for the first time. Rent skis, boots and a helmet, give your shoe size, insist on paying, understand a ski instructor, say "I fell again" and "I can't do it", talk about the slopes, say you're sore everywhere, take the cable car to the top, and warm up with a hot chocolate.

THE STORY
It's Saturday the thirteenth of February, the first day of the school holidays. Hugo has hired a car and booked a little hotel in a ski resort in the Alps, two hours from Lyon. It snowed all night, and the sky is blue. Hugo has skied since he was five. Emma has never put on a pair of skis in her life. In the ski hire shop, she looks at the skis on the wall, and then at Hugo. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
