PARTE 2 · LECCIÓN 17 DE 30 · 40 MINUTOS
Passing the Baton
Three days after Easter, Professor Ortega tells Julian he'll retire when the book comes out - and that he's put Julian's name forward for a research post at the Archive of the Indies. Julian asks for one night to think, and Sarah asks what there is to think about. Say this is your home, that's exactly why, pass the baton, who better?, in good hands, let me think about it - and accept something you didn't expect.

LA HISTORIA
It's Wednesday, April 4th, 2029, three days after Easter, eight in the evening, in the reading room of the Archive of the Indies. Everyone else has gone home. The last light is coming through the high windows onto the long tables. Professor Ortega has been coming here for forty years. He's put his pen down, which he never does, and he's looking at Julian over his glasses. At ten, at home, Julian tells Sarah. And the next morning, Ortega is waiting for his answer. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
