PART 2 · LESSON 13 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
In Case There Are Any Questions
Before they can make an offer, Daniel and Bia go to the bank to ask how much it will lend them, and then do the sums on the pavement. Say "in case there is", "in case you have", "there was" and "there were" in formal speech, and talk about a mortgage, the deposit, the instalments, the interest and the workers' fund.

THE STORY
Wednesday the twenty-fourth of January, three in the afternoon, at a bank in Botafogo. Daniel and Bia took a number an hour ago. Now they're sitting at a desk opposite the manager, a tidy man in a tie, with a calculator, a pen and a very long form. Daniel is wearing his only suit. Half an hour later, out on the pavement, they do the sums again. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
