The Parents Ask
A video call from Portland propped against the sugar bowl at the Lajpat Nagar table, Noah translating both ways: Mom is asking whether we're not coming back, say you come every summer, Dad is asking whether the card has no last date, tell them it's for life and they have a home here too, Mummy ji must come to Portland, afraid of planes and coming anyway, it's a deal, and the food is getting cold.
