A huge storm turns the street outside the clinic into a brown river. The team carries sandbags, saves the files and waits in the dark with the patients, Rocio's mother among them, and at nine Julian calls. It's Tuesday, the sixteenth of June, the middle of the rainy season, and Sarah is on the afternoon shift. At four, the sky turns black, and the rain comes down so hard that in twenty minutes the street outside the clinic is a brown river, creeping up the steps. By eight the rain has stopped, and the team sits in the dark. At nine, Julian calls. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
