L’HISTOIRE
Wednesday, the nineteenth of July, a week after Grandma Nena came home from the hospital. Her week of rest ends today, and she has spent all of it in a chair on the veranda, giving orders to everyone. Daniel has just watered her vegetable garden, and Bia has gone into town. A truck stops at the gate, and a thin man with a pencil behind his ear gets out. This is Seu Tiao, the best carpenter in the valley. That evening, at the kitchen table, Bia makes a list of every job on the farm. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
