Suddenly, It Started to Rain
On the veranda after dinner, Grandma Nena tells the story of how she met Grandpa Zeca, sixty-five years ago, and brings out the hat she never gave back. Then it's Daniel and Bia's turn. L’HISTOIRE
Saturday night, the twenty-second of July, after the market. Dinner is over, the dishes are done, and the four of them are on the veranda in the dark, with the crickets. Daniel has his new country guitar on his knees, but nobody has asked him to play it. Bia has a question she has never thought to ask before, and Grandma Nena has kept something for sixty-five years. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
