PARTE 1 · LECCIÓN 7 DE 30 · 40 MINUTOS
Sequels Are Never Good
Ortega is back from Rome, tanned, with half his memoirs in a notebook and Italian words all through his Spanish. Over the Thursday coffee, Julian tells him his plan for a second book, and at five the two of them climb the stairs to their publisher, who answers with an old saying. Argue with a quotation - sequels are never any good, everybody says so, a saying that turns up in Don Quixote - set a condition and give your word - if you bring me that, I'll sign, you have my word - and welcome someone back.

LA HISTORIA
It's Thursday, February 21st, 2030, eleven in the morning, in the cafe across from the cathedral in Seville. Professor Ortega got back from Rome last night, after almost five months, tanned, with half his memoirs in a notebook. Julian has a plan for a second book, about the third ship of Leonor de Ayala, and about who kept the register of births in Oaxaca. At five o'clock, the two of them climb three floors to their publisher's office. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
