A Screw Is Missing, Again

Saturday the nineteenth of February 2028, the ninth lesson of this level. Five in the afternoon, the bedroom of the new flat, a week after the move, a flat-pack wardrobe on the floor, forty screws, twelve pages of instructions, Hugo with the screwdriver, and at the last door, one screw missing, as with his bed a year ago. Half past seven, the first evening on the balcony, at six degrees, the lift working now. Three in the morning, Rose, through the floor, and Emma, who sleeps through it. Say I told you so, there's always one missing, and I didn't hear her, with the e you write and don't hear.

L’HISTOIRE

Saturday the nineteenth of February 2028, five in the afternoon, the bedroom of the new flat. Thirty-two boxes, half of them still closed, and on the floor, in its flat box since Friday, a wardrobe to put together. Hugo has the screwdriver and Emma the instructions. Then two chairs on the balcony at six degrees, a cry through the floor at three in the morning, and on Sunday, by the pram in the hall, the neighbours from downstairs. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
