PART 3 · LESSON 29 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES

Back in Kamakura

In September, Ben and Yui go back to Kamakura, where Ben's story in Japan began, and see Riku, his surfing teacher, again. Say how long it's been, say someone hasn't changed and that a lot has, ask if someone remembers, follow a surfing lesson, tell an old friend your news, and make a plan for a birthday three months late.

THE STORY

Last summer, Ben came to Japan with a backpack, just for a month, and in Kamakura, Riku taught him to surf. Now it's Saturday, September the twelfth, and Ben and Yui take the train down from Tokyo. Riku is waiting on the beach with two boards. Ben says it's been two years, but Yui has been counting. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
