THE STORY

Half past twelve, the old house with the garden. Sixty guests at eight tables, red maples outside the paper doors, and Miss Morita at the microphone. Mister Kimura speaks first, formally, and for a long time. Missus Sato, who introduced Ben and Yui, gives the toast, and Yui feeds Ben a piece of cake far too big for him. Then Yui comes back in a red kimono, and it's Kenta's turn. The name on his hand has rubbed off. He promised to do it properly. He never promised anything about natto. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
