PART 2 · LESSON 20 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
Kenta's News
Sunday the third of October, a quiet evening at the Hanaya, the night after the dinner with Aya. Kenta has news of his own. From next spring he'll run the Hanaya, and his grandmother will retire, in theory. Talk about taking over a family business, retiring and responsibility, thank someone for fifty years of hard work, promise a good speech, and refuse to promise anything else. Then a look back at everything from Part 2.

THE STORY
Sunday, the third of October. The weekend guests have gone home, and the Hanaya is quiet. Kenta asks Ben to stay for a beer. He has been talking to his grandmother. After fifty years, Missus Sato has decided it's time, and the Hanaya will be his from next spring. He's excited, and terrified. Missus Sato says that from now on she'll only do the cooking, which doesn't sound much like retiring. And Kenta still has a wedding speech to write, with two stories in it that Ben would rather he left out. Then Kenta wants to hear about the dinner with Mike and Aya, the two of them look back on the summer, and Yui phones. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
