PART 1 · LESSON 9 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
The Same, But Different
Elena calls from Oaxaca, and Sarah tries to explain how Spain is the same, but different. Then Julian takes the phone, and Encarna comes up the stairs with a plate. Compare two countries - here they say, there we say, here they call it, it seems to them - talk about getting used to a new place, say you miss someone, both ways, and hear two mothers agree about food.

THE STORY
It's Sunday, September 26th, eight in the evening in Seville and noon in Oaxaca. Sarah sits on the little balcony over Pureza Street with her phone. The bells of a church are ringing, and the swifts are screaming over the rooftops. On the screen, Elena is in her kitchen, with flour on her hands. A little later Julian comes out and takes the phone, and then Encarna comes up the stairs with a plate. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
