PART 1 · LESSON 4 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
Putting Down Roots
On a cold January night, on the roof where they once chose where to get married, Sarah and Julian make a bigger decision - whether to stay in Seville. Then they go downstairs to tell Encarna, who has conditions, and call Oaxaca. Weigh up a life the way Spaniards do - thinking about it, after all, deep down, when all's said and done, it's worth it - and say you're putting down roots.

THE STORY
It's Tuesday, January 30th, 2029, after dinner, on the flat roof of the building in Triana. Last spring, on this same roof, Sarah and Julian chose where to get married. It's cold, for Seville, and they're wrapped in the rug Julian's father wove for the wedding. The cathedral tower is lit up across the river. Neither of them has said what they're both thinking about. Later, they go downstairs to tell Encarna. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
