PART 3 · LESSON 30 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES

Said Out Loud

A year after their first night of Saint John, Sarah and Julian are back on the beach in Cadiz with Pepa, Rosario and Encarna, three days after Lucia and Pablo's wedding, writing wishes and throwing them on the fire. Say a year already, someone wished, and it came true, it wasn't a miracle, it was love, I'm not saying or it won't come true, if I passed I wouldn't complain, it doesn't count, on three, that means it'll come true - and look back over the whole of Fluency Level One, from the King's cake to the wedding.

THE STORY

It's Saturday, June 23rd, 2029, the night of Saint John, eleven o'clock, on the same beach in Cadiz as a year ago. The bonfires are burning all along the sand. Pepa has brought her bag of paper and pens. Rosario, who was on call last year, has brought a cool box. Encarna has come too, which last year nobody would have believed - she flew to Mexico in December, and since then she says Cadiz is just around the corner. Elena and Don Roberto flew home to Oaxaca yesterday, and Lucia and Pablo are on their honeymoon in Greece. Sarah, Julian and Encarna came down from Seville on the train this afternoon, and tonight they sleep at Pepa's. This time, Sarah and Julian have brought their own paper. At midnight, the wishes go into the fire. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
