PART 2 · LESSON 18 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES

Old Friends

Valeria and Diego come to Oaxaca to meet Sarah's parents before they fly home. Diego meets Valeria's family and Julian, and Sarah gives him back the key she promised him in June. Say how long it's been since you did something - I haven't seen you for a year, it had been months since - say you told someone you would, and talk about football teams and rivals.

THE STORY

It's Saturday, the first of August, the day before Sarah's parents fly home. Valeria and Diego have taken the night bus from Mexico City, and they walk into the yard of the blue house just as Elena serves breakfast. Sarah hasn't seen Diego since her first days in Mexico, at the hostel where it all began, and she still has his key in her backpack. At two o'clock, Julian and Sarah's parents come for lunch. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
