PART 2 · LESSON 12 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
What Hurts?
The waiting room fills up, and Lupita sends Sarah a patient who is hers alone, an older man in a straw hat. Ask someone politely to come in and sit down, ask what hurts and since when, name the back, the knee, the arm, the leg, the hand and the throat, ask about a cough, and say that it's not serious.

THE STORY
It is Tuesday, September thirtieth. By nine o'clock every plastic chair in the waiting room is taken. Doctor Ruiz is with a baby, and Lupita sends the next patient to Sarah, on her own for the first time. He is an older man in a straw hat, walking slowly, with one hand on his back. Then the doctor comes in, and she knows him well. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
