PART 1 · LESSON 6 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
Put Like That
In August, Seville empties. The bars close, the neighbours go to the coast, and the hospital runs on whoever is left. Speak the language of an August in Spain - could you cover my shift, three in a row, I'm shattered, everybody's on holiday, everybody except us, you owe me a week, it's impossible to sleep, that tomorrow means September, it gets cool at night - and get talked into a week in the rain.

THE STORY
It's Tuesday, August 7th, 2029, eight in the morning, in the changing room of the hospital, at the end of a night shift. Outside, it's already thirty-two degrees. Sarah's parents flew home last week, with all three suitcases. Half of Seville is at the beach, Manolo's bar has a sign on the door, and on the ward, every nurse who's left is doing two people's shifts. Sarah and Nerea are taking off their uniforms when the supervisor comes in with a clipboard and a smile they both know. That night, at midnight, the top-floor flat is an oven, and Sarah has news for Julian. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
