PART 1 · LESSON 9 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES

Just a Coffee

Sarah meets Julian, Elena's shy colleague, for a coffee on the main square, and one coffee turns into two coffees and a museum. Express doubt and possibility - I don't think that, I doubt that, maybe, it's possible that - and get to know someone - what do you teach?, have you always lived here?, are you going to stay?

THE STORY

On Saturday the thirty-first of January, the main square of Oaxaca is full of balloon sellers and brass bands. Sarah sits at a cafe under the arches, ten minutes early. At exactly five o'clock, a tall man with glasses and a guitar case on his back looks around nervously. Two coffees later they are still talking, and that night Elena is waiting at the kitchen table with her questions. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
