PART 1 · LESSON 7 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
The Interview
Sarah has her interview for the midwife course with the director of the school, then her degree finally arrives from Boston, and Julian helps her write the director a very formal letter. Answer interview questions about your reasons, strengths and weaknesses, make formal requests - I'd be grateful if you sent, would it be possible - and use the set phrases of a formal letter.

THE STORY
It's Tuesday, the ninth of June, at four in the afternoon. Sarah is back at the school of midwifery, for her interview. The director is a small, sharp woman in her sixties, who has delivered more than three thousand babies, and her office is lined with photos of them. Sarah has ironed her best blouse and practised her answers with Julian for three nights. The next evening, Chayo knocks at the door with an envelope from Boston, and Julian helps with a very formal letter. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
