PART 3 · LESSON 23 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES

Any Other Business

The residents of Encarna's building meet in her patio, and the first item on the agenda is the one Encarna has been waiting for, a lift. Speak the language of a formal meeting - the meeting is open, I'd like the floor, it's put to the vote, passed by a majority, let it be minuted, any other business, the meeting is closed.

THE STORY

It's Friday, June 1st, 2029, eight in the evening, in Encarna's patio. Twice a year, the residents of the building meet here, with a folding table, a notebook for the minutes and a jug of water nobody drinks. There are six flats and one bar, Manolo's, on the ground floor. In July, Sarah and Julian move up to the top floor, four floors up, and there is no lift. The president of the residents, a retired bank clerk, taps his pen on the table. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
