PART 1 · LESSON 3 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES

Tomorrow Without Fail

A brown stain appears on the ceiling of the flat below, and the plumber always comes tomorrow. Speak the language of dealing with tradespeople - we've been waiting a week, I've had a terrible time of it, without fail, first thing, it's nothing serious, why is it taking so long, this can't go on, enough is enough, with an invoice or without - and go from polite to not so polite.

THE STORY

It's Wednesday, July 18th, 2029, ten in the morning, in the top-floor flat. Since Saturday, every time Sarah or Julian has a shower, a brown stain grows on the bathroom ceiling of the flat below, on the third floor. The plumber Encarna recommended said Monday without fail. It's Wednesday. Sarah has the phone in her hand, and Encarna is sitting at the kitchen table with her arms folded. This time, he answers. By Friday, the day Sarah's parents arrive, Sarah has stopped being polite. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
