PART 3 · LESSON 26 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
I Mean, Like
On the Wednesday of the April Fair, Emily meets Manolo's nephew Curro, a medical student who's supposed to be serving drinks, and Sarah discovers that her little sister, thanks to videos made in Madrid, talks exactly like a Spanish teenager. Use the little words that fill a Spanish sentence - I mean, like, that is, so basically, well, the thing is - and know when not to use them. Then talk about snow, and invite someone to Boston.

THE STORY
It's Wednesday May 3rd, the fourth day of the April Fair, six in the evening. In the cousin's tent, Manolo has introduced Emily to his nephew Curro, who is twenty, studies medicine, and is supposed to be serving drinks. Emily, in her yellow dress, has stopped being shy. Sarah and Julian are at the next table, pretending not to listen. Behind the bar, Manolo is watching the empty glasses pile up. At eleven, when Curro's shift is over, the talk turns to snow, and to Boston. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
