PART 1 · LESSON 8 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
I Wanted Everything to Be Perfect
Valeria and Diego are married in the cathedral of Guadalajara. Diego says his vows by heart, Julian hands over the rings from the right pocket, and Sarah drops the cord. On the steps, under the rice, everyone has something to confess, and in the photo, the two aunts who haven't spoken for twenty years are told to smile. Say what someone wanted, asked or told others to do, all in the past, say nobody noticed and I didn't mind, and describe a Mexican church wedding, from the vows to the kiss.

THE STORY
It's Saturday, the nineteenth of December. The cathedral of Guadalajara is full of white flowers, and the mass has begun. Diego stands at the altar with his hands empty, no ink on them. Julian has the rings, and Sarah has the cord. A little after seven, the bells ring, and Valeria and Diego come out onto the steps, married, under a shower of rice. Sarah's eyes are red, and Valeria runs straight to her. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
