PART 2 · LESSON 16 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
For Both of Us
In the early hours of Good Friday, the Hope of Triana comes down Pureza Street, and one of the bearers who comes out from underneath for his turn of rest is Julian - carrying her for Encarna, and for Paco. Twelve hours later she comes home to her chapel. Say I've got no words, you say it all, he'd be proud, I'm proud for both of us, you kept that very quiet, we owed you, and talk about Holy Week from underneath.

THE STORY
It's the early hours of Good Friday, March 30th, 2029, a little after two in the morning, in Pureza Street. The Hope of Triana has just come out of her chapel. Encarna is on her balcony in her mantilla, as she has been for fifty years, with Sarah and Lucia beside her. Nobody has told Encarna anything. The float stops right below them, and the foreman knocks for a change of bearers. A man in a white sack and a black shirt comes out from underneath, wiping his face. Twelve hours later, the Hope comes home to her chapel, and Encarna is waiting at the door. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
