PART 1 · LESSON 8 OF 30 · 39 MINUTES
Someone You Can Trust
On Monday night, Nerea's family takes Sarah and Julian from bar to bar in Bilbao's old town, for small bites on bread, the way it's done in the north. Speak the language of a night out there - here you don't order, you take it from the counter, how many was it, to be honest, this lad can be trusted, I've lost count, this round's on me, don't even think about it, you're going to spoil me - and be a guest who isn't allowed to pay.

THE STORY
It's Monday, August 27th, 2029, nine in the evening, in the old town of Bilbao. The narrow streets are full of people with a glass in one hand, moving from one bar to the next. The counters are covered in plates of small bites on slices of bread, each one held together with a toothpick. Nerea's father, who has said about twenty words since Sarah and Julian arrived, has decided to show them how it's done. At midnight, in the sixth bar, Sarah tries to pay, and the quiet man says more than he has said all week. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
