Reception

Part 2 begins. On the first of February, Ben goes alone to Tsubame Travel's Tokyo office in Nihonbashi, ten minutes early, in his best suit. At the reception desk he announces himself and his appointment, humbly, and the receptionist raises him, the company's guest. Then she speaks of her own boss with no san and a humble verb, and Ben sees Aya's rule at work. Learn to announce an appointment (Fujita-sama to niji ni oyakusoku o itadaite orimasu), the receptionist's polite language, and the in-group rule (Fujita wa sugu mairimasu).

THE STORY

Tuesday, February the first, twenty twenty-eight. Ben leaves home in his best suit, his business cards in his bag. At ten to two he is at Tsubame Travel's reception desk in Nihonbashi, ten minutes early and on his own. He announces himself and his appointment with the manager, Mister Fujita, and the receptionist calls her own boss just Fujita. Then she brings him tea. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
