PART 2 · LESSON 15 OF 30 · 30 MINUTES
Dinner with Mister Fujita
Thursday evening, an okonomiyaki restaurant in Nihonbashi. Mister Fujita takes Ben and Mister Kimura to dinner, cooks the okonomiyaki himself, the Osaka way, and keeps telling them to eat. He raises his guests with respectful verbs, and when Ben tries one on himself, the whole table laughs. Learn respectful eating and drinking (meshiagatte kudasai, nani o onomi ni narimasu ka), the o- and ni narimasu pattern, and the humble itadakimasu, for yourself.

THE STORY
Thursday, February the twenty-fourth, twenty twenty-eight, seven in the evening. Mister Fujita takes Ben and Mister Kimura to an okonomiyaki restaurant in Nihonbashi, and cooks for them himself, the Osaka way. He keeps telling them to eat, with a respectful verb, and Ben, trying hard to be polite, uses it about himself. Then Mister Fujita has an invitation, and at nine, Mister Kimura goes home first, as always. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
