Part Three begins. Ten days after the party, on a Tuesday morning, Bia sits Daniel down on the edge of the bed with a small white stick in her hand. THE STORY

Tuesday the twenty-fourth of April, ten days after the housewarming, in the flat in Botafogo, at a quarter to seven in the morning. Daniel has one shoe on and can't find the other. Bia has been in the bathroom for a long time. She comes out, closes the bedroom door behind her, so that Pipoca can't get in, and sits down on the edge of the bed with something small and white in her hand. Later, in the lift, Dona Marta reminds them that they still owe her a coffee, and at the office Paula wants to know why Daniel can't stop smiling.
