PART 3 · LESSON 27 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
Nobody Is Born Knowing
A Saturday in October, six weeks before the baby is due. Daniel builds the cot with Thiago, three months a father, and at last asks what has been worrying him. Say "what if I can't cope?", "nobody is born knowing" and "you learn as you go", follow instructions with no words, and talk about everything a baby needs.

THE STORY
Saturday the twentieth of October, in the second bedroom, which was never for visitors. The walls have been painted a pale yellow. The floor is covered in pieces of wood, a bag of screws, and a sheet of instructions with no words on it, only drawings. Bia, seven and a half months pregnant, is out at Luana's. Thiago, Luana's husband, whose daughter is three months old, has come round with his toolbox. At seven, Bia comes home. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
