By the Wedding, We'll Have Become One Family
Tuesday the twelfth of September, four days before the wedding, the two families meet on the farm for the first time, with Daniel in the middle, translating. Welcome guests, say "you must be", exchange presents, make a toast, and say what will have happened by a certain time, "by the end of the week, he'll have tried everything".

THE STORY
Tuesday the twelfth of September, two in the afternoon, after eight hours on the road. On the veranda of the farm, Grandma Nena is in her best dress, and Seu Antonio and Dona Rosa have driven up from Belo Horizonte. Up at the chapel, Grandpa Zeca rings the bell, as he does for everyone who arrives. Daniel's car stops at the gate, and Susan gets out first, with her phrasebook. That evening, at dinner, Emily's plate worries Grandma Nena, and Tom wants a recipe. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
