THE STORY
Christmas Eve in the flat in Botafogo. At five, Carla, Rafael and Bruno bring a present for Alice on their way to Dona Lucia's, and Rafael finds out what everyone else already knew. At ten, it's thirty-two degrees, every window is open, and the fan is losing. Daniel's parents, who landed the day after Alice was born, are here, and so is his sister. Bia's parents and grandparents have driven eight hours from Minas, with a cheese the size of a wheel. Dona Marta has come up from the seventh floor with a cake. Alice is almost three weeks old, asleep in Bia's arms, and has no idea that ten people are looking at her. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
