PART 2 · LESSON 20 OF 30 · 33 MINUTES
The New Owner
Saturday the first of April, Kenta's first morning as owner of the Hanaya. He hasn't slept, he unlocked the front door himself at six, and at ten an older couple from Osaka arrive five hours early, on their fortieth anniversary trip, with a big suitcase and a question Kenta gets the wrong way round. Natsuki rescues him, Ben tells him practice will get him there, and at three he shows them to their room. Learn the inn's polite language (goyoyaku wa, itadaite orimasu ka; oazukari itashimasu; goyukkuri okutsurogi kudasai), say what practice will make possible (renshuu sureba, dekiru you ni naru), and look back over Part 2.

THE STORY
Saturday, the first of April, twenty twenty-eight, the Hanaya, seven in the morning. Kenta has been the owner since midnight, with the front-door key in his pocket and no sleep behind him. Ben is at the desk all day, for a Saturday, because Kenta asked, Natsuki starts today, and Missus Sato is in the kitchen, just cooking. At ten, an older couple from Osaka arrive five hours early with a big suitcase, and Kenta's polite Japanese goes the wrong way round. At three, he shows them to their room. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
