PART 3 · LESSON 22 OF 30 · 33 MINUTES
The President
Thursday the eighth of June, the rainy season, Tsubame Travel's Tokyo office. Missus Hayashi, the president, has come up from Osaka to sit in on Ben's class, and she remembers his email. After the class, a couple from Canada rush in from the rain with no bag, left on the Narita Express. Ben phones Shinjuku station's lost property, gets the directions and passes them on in both languages, while the president watches from the sofa. Learn the humble meet (ome ni kakarete, kouei desu), introduce your own boss by her bare surname (shachou no Hayashi desu), give directions with to, do this and that follows (higashiguchi o deru to, hidari ni arimasu; pasupooto o miseru to, kaeshite moraemasu), and hear what the president says before she leaves.

THE STORY
Thursday, the eighth of June, twenty twenty-eight, the rainy season. Ten to eight, the fifth floor in Nihonbashi. Mister Fujita has news, the president is coming today, and at eight a small woman of about sixty, who founded Tsubame Travel in Osaka thirty years ago, bows to Ben and tells him she read his email. She sits at the back of the class, where page twelve is a traveller at Shinjuku station asking the way. At five past nine a couple from Canada come in out of the rain with no bag, and Ben picks up the phone. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
