PART 1 · LESSON 5 OF 30 · 30 MINUTES

I'll Be Your Guarantor

Sunday the sixteenth of January 2028, the fifth lesson of this level. Noon, lunch at the house above Lyon, planned long before the visit. Leo fills in his university wishes at the table, Emma arrives with the file on her mind and has sworn not to ask anyone anything, and Patrick, who sees her plate, puts down his glass. A phone that buzzes against the table all through lunch, and in the drive an old blue car that Sylvie will lend, once Emma has her licence. Say I'll be your guarantor, with the French verb for carrying yourself, and when you've got it, I'll lend it to you, with the future after when and two little words together before the verb.
