PARTIE 2 · LEÇON 13 SUR 30 · 40 MINUTES
Monte Alban
Sarah takes her parents up to Monte Alban, the ancient Zapotec city on a mountaintop above Oaxaca, with a guide in a wide hat. Later, in the shade at the top, they talk about Julian, whom they meet on Thursday. Use the passive to talk about history - it was built by, it was abandoned, they were carved by - talk about ruins, carvings and views, and ask a group to be nice.

L’HISTOIRE
It's Tuesday, the twenty-first of July, and Sarah has the day off. Monte Alban sits on a flattened mountaintop, four hundred metres above the valley of Oaxaca. Two thousand years ago, it was one of the great cities of the Americas. At nine in the morning, before the heat, a guide in a wide hat leads Sarah and her parents across the Great Plaza. At eleven, they rest in the shade at the top of the North Platform. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
