PART 3 · LESSON 28 OF 30 · 33 MINUTES
The More I Think
Sunday the twenty-seventh of August, nine in the morning, at home. The results are out, Ben's N2 and Mike's N5, and both of them passed. Then Ben and Yui have the whole day for one question, Kyoto or Tokyo. The more Ben thinks, the less he knows; Yui makes him say what he wants, and by the second pot of tea it is decided. At three, Yui phones her mother, who cries. Learn the more... the more (kangaereba kangaeru hodo, wakaranaku naru), the if that picks up what was just said and decides (Kyouto nara; Ben ga iku nara, watashi mo iku), and how a daughter tells her mother something big (hanashi ga aru no; hikkosu koto ni natta).

THE STORY
Sunday, the twenty-seventh of August, twenty twenty-eight. Nine in the morning, the kitchen table, the laptop open, Maple on the chair nobody is using. Ben has the Sunday desk at the Hanaya, but not today. The results of the July exams come out this morning, Ben's N2 and Mike's N5. After that there is nothing in the day but one question, Kyoto or Tokyo, and a sheet of paper from Osaka. At three, Yui phones Kyoto. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
