THE STORY
Thursday, the seventh of December, twenty twenty-eight, a year to the day since the ward office in Tokyo. Half past nine, window three at the Osaka immigration office, far out by the port, with the postcard that came yesterday. Noon, Ben's desk on the seventh floor, and the phone to a small inn by the Kamo river in Kyoto. Eight o'clock, the kitchen table at home, a small cake and one candle. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
