PART 1 · LESSON 8 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
As If It Were Yesterday
Carnival Saturday, and a children's street band two streets from home. Alice, almost three months old, is dressed as a bee, and sleeps through the whole thing in her ear defenders. Carla, Rafael and Bruno come in costume, Luana brings Maria, and Daniel remembers his first Carnival, lost, dressed as a pirate. Say how someone does something with "as if", "she's sleeping as if nothing were happening", "I remember it as if it were yesterday", "as if she'd slept the whole night", and ask what costume someone is wearing.

THE STORY
Saturday the second of March, twenty thirty, Carnival Saturday. At three in the afternoon, a children's street band is playing in a square two streets from home, in Botafogo. Alice, almost three months old, is dressed as a bee, with ear defenders on, asleep on Daniel's chest. Carla, Rafael and Bruno have come in costume, and Luana has brought Maria. Thiago has gone home to Salvador for Carnival. When the band plays an old Carnival march, Daniel, in his old pirate hat, remembers his first Carnival, four years ago, lost in the crowd. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
