PART 1 · LESSON 3 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
It Says Magdalena
Monday morning at the registry office. The clerk looks for the G in Alice's name, and finds out whose mistake it was. On the pavement outside, Daniel calls the farm back, and Grandma Nena takes it personally. Say who did something, "the mistake was made by the registry office", read an official paper, "it says here", and ask what a correction costs, who has to sign and how long it takes.

THE STORY
Monday the seventh of January, twenty thirty, nine in the morning, at the registry office in Botafogo. Daniel and Bia have waited forty minutes for their number, with Alice asleep in a sling on Daniel's chest. Now the clerk looks at the birth certificate, then at her screen, then at a piece of paper from the file. Ten minutes later, on the pavement outside, Daniel sees a missed call from the farm, and calls back. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
