PART 3 · LESSON 21 OF 30 · 30 MINUTES

What Do You Call That Here?

The first lesson of Part Three. Daniel's first week in the Northeast begins with the heat at the airport door, a taxi over the bridges, and the new office in the old port district, where Edson, the local lead, has breakfast waiting, and a third name for cassava. Ask what people call something here, and hear how the Northeast talks.

THE STORY

Monday the fifth of August, twenty thirty. Daniel took the six o'clock flight, and just before nine, the airport doors open onto the heat of the Northeast. A taxi takes him over the bridges to the old port district, where the new office is. Edson, the local lead, is waiting at the door, with breakfast on the table. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
