PART 2 · LESSON 16 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
Nerves of Steel
Twice a week, Sarah studies for the exam at her kitchen table with Nerea and Alvaro, a nurse sitting the exam for the third time, and Encarna climbs four floors with a tray to see how the students are doing. Speak the language of studying together - ask me something, anything, I can't remember any more, let me see if I've got this right, my mind goes blank, we complement each other, you can't study on an empty stomach, third time lucky - and explain things to each other in other words.

THE STORY
It's Monday, October 15th, 2029, six in the evening, in the kitchen of the top-floor flat. The drilling downstairs stopped at three. The table is covered in notes, coloured pens, cards and three cups of tea. The exam is in January, and there are a hundred topics. Sarah has done eighty. Nerea did all hundred in the summer and is going through them again. Alvaro, a nurse from Sarah's ward, knows every one by heart, because this is his third time. At half past seven, Encarna climbs the four floors with a tray. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
