PART 2 · LESSON 19 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
Storytelling Is an Art
On the last night of October, Emily wants to hear how Julian carried the float in Holy Week, and Julian tells it so badly that Encarna has to take over. An hour later he tries again, her way. Speak the language of telling a story - it turns out that, get to the point, anyway, let me, and suddenly, you don't say, what happened next, and just then, I can't believe it, the best part for last - and learn where to put the pause.

THE STORY
It's Wednesday, October 31st, 2029, nine in the evening, in Manolo's bar. In Boston it's Halloween, and in Seville tomorrow is All Saints' Day, a holiday. Emily and Curro are at a table with Sarah, Julian and Encarna. On the wall, Manolo has hung a photo of the float of the Hope of Triana coming down Pureza Street in Holy Week. Emily missed Holy Week, and she still doesn't know the story behind that photo. She turns to Julian. An hour later, with another round on the table, Julian tries again, Encarna's way. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
