PART 2 · LESSON 19 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
As Soon As the Committee Decides
Julian has his interview for the grant, on a video call with a professor in Seville, and Sarah hears the Spanish of Spain for the first time. Say as soon as and once, about things that haven't happened yet; answer interview questions; and notice what changes between Mexico and Spain, from the polite and friendly you to the words for car, phone, juice and OK.

THE STORY
It's Thursday, January 28th, eight in the morning in Oaxaca and three in the afternoon in Seville. Julian sits at his desk in a shirt and tie, and pyjama bottoms. Sarah sits beside him, just out of view of the camera. On the screen, an old man with a white beard and a bookcase behind him. It's Professor Ortega, from the University of Seville, and this is the interview for the grant. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
