PART 2 · LESSON 18 OF 30 · 40 MINUTES
Neither Yes Nor No
A rumour is going round Manolo's bar, and Sarah is the one person who knows the truth, and has promised not to tell. Then Lucia walks in and orders an orange juice. Speak the language of gossip and discretion - have you heard, people are saying, who says so, nobody's told me anything, that's not a no, it's not a yes either, speak of the devil, we were talking about the weather, and I was born yesterday - and keep a secret in a room full of questions.

THE STORY
It's Monday, October 29th, 2029, eight in the evening, in Manolo's bar. The neighbour from the first floor, who lives right above the bar and hears everything through the floor, has just come in, out of breath, with the face of someone who knows something. Encarna is at her usual table. Sarah is having a quick coffee before her night shift. What nobody knows is that three days ago, Lucia told Sarah something in the strictest confidence. The neighbour sits down, leans in and lowers her voice, which in Manolo's bar means everyone can hear. A quarter of an hour later, the door opens, and in walks Lucia. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
