What's Needed Is
On Monday morning, Sarah asks the director of her school about the exchange with Seville, and by Friday her letter is on the director's desk. Say what's needed is, ask whether something counts, ask for one thing instead of another, ask by when, talk about grades, a letter of recommendation and an interview, and write a formal letter of application.

THE STORY
It's Monday morning, February 8th, in the director's office, the one with the photos of three thousand babies on the walls. Sarah has slept badly, and she's holding her notebook very tightly. The director takes off her glasses and looks at her. At two, over lunch, Sarah tells Julian how it went. This is the conversation you'll be able to say by the end of the lesson.
