The admin office
At the high school's admin office with Ms. Jang, the clerk goes through Eli's terms: the pay is set according to the salary scale, which step, step four and the three years count, eighteen hours a week by the timetable, the vacations and the four insurances, duty days according to the school rules, deducted by law, severance pay after a year, and every line read on Monday.

THE STORY
The admin office of the high school in Mapo on a July afternoon, Eli across the counter from the clerk and Ms. Jang beside him; the clerk speaks formally as offices do, Ms. Jang politely, Eli formally and respectfully.
